Dr. Hermanns studied physics at RWTH Aachen University. His main subjects were quantum physics, solid state physics and laser technology. He wrote his diploma thesis at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT in Aachen in the field of modelling and simulation of laser beam fusion cutting. This was followed by a doctorate at the Chair of Laser Technology LLT at RWTH Aachen University in the teaching and research area of nonlinear dynamics of laser manufacturing processes. For his doctorate, in which he developed a high-performance simulation app for laser beam drilling, he was awarded the "Borchers Plakette" of RWTH Aachen University. After his doctorate, he worked for 3 years as a project manager in the area of research and development at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT. In this position, he focused on innovation management of laser manufacturing processes. Dr. Hermanns works for EurA AG as a network and project manager with a focus on laser material processing.
The establishment and management of regional, nationwide and international technology networks is part of EurA AG's core business. With over 50 established associations of SMEs and research institutions, the company is the market leader in technology networks.
